Brenda Mennella's Vision for Smart Spending in Education

Updated: Sep 24

Flowers for Brenda Mennella

Brenda Mennella’s approach to education in Delaware is based on her hands-on experience as an educator for over two decades. While Frank Burns calls for fully state-funded education, Brenda believes in a balanced and responsible approach that focuses on improving education quality without burdening taxpayers. She recognizes that Delaware already has one of the highest costs per student in the nation, yet the performance does not match the investment. That’s why she is committed to making every dollar count.

Brenda advocates for smarter spending in education rather than just increasing funding without accountability. She supports targeted investments that prioritize teacher support, classroom resources, and student services—ensuring that money goes where it’s needed most to improve student outcomes. Her experience as a 3rd Grade and Special Education teacher gives her the insight into what schools need to truly thrive.

Unlike Frank Burns, who seems to believe that throwing more money at the problem will fix it, Brenda knows that without improving how funds are used, we won’t see real progress. She’s ready to challenge the status quo by pushing for higher standards, more efficient budgeting, and transparency in how taxpayer dollars are spent.

Brenda also understands the broader impact that education has on our community, including our seniors. She wants to protect taxpayers, especially retirees, from funding inefficiencies that don't lead to better results in schools. By making sure school funds are well-managed, Brenda aims to improve education outcomes without cutting into other vital areas, such as services for the elderly.

Voting for Brenda means supporting a candidate who knows the education system from the inside and will fight to make it better without burdening taxpayers with unchecked spending. Her balanced, realistic approach is what Delaware needs to raise performance, attract and retain top educators, and improve outcomes for students across the state.
